The VMware integration plugin is for Vcenter. You would just need OMSA installed on it. My last question then is, I also have a Dell R710 with ESXi 5 on it, would that then require me to have the full integration of OMSA and the vmware plugin to get the data from that server like those two are one in the same or one won't work without the other? Thanks for the clarification on that, Daniel. With the R720XD and iDRAC Enterprise 7, I should be able to connect from OME to them without installing OMSA?
#Install dell openmanage vmware esxi 5 install#
OK, so if I also have some Dell R710 servers with iDRAC Enterprise 6 then I would need to install OMSA on those and then use OME on my own desktop to get the information from them? You can read more about the various OpenManage products here: It is possible to receive an evaluation license for the product, but it is licensed based on the number of servers managed and the number of VCenter applications installed on. OpenManage Integration for VMWare VCenter is not free. It is basically OME that runs as a plugin inside VCenter.
There is an OMSA agent that runs within the LifeCycle Controller of the iDRAC that will report and allow management functions.Ī product similar to OME is OpenManage Integration for VMWare VCenter. On our 12th generation servers they have agentless capabilities, so you are not required to have OMSA installed on them for management and monitoring. To use OME you would install OMSA on all of your servers and OMSA would report information to OME. OpenManage Essentials is a monitoring station that communicates with OpenManage Server Administrator. What you are showing in VCenter should be the full installation. That is a local management and monitoring tool. What you described in your first post is OpenManage Server Administrator.
